Well, it is a freetype leak, at least most of it.
I've been using the arialbd.ttf font and that seems to be the cause.
Using a pfa font instead of the ttf font does not cause any leaks!

As I'm using an old freetype version, I can't verify if the leak
exists in the latest version. Can anyone else verify this?

I did find two small leaks in mapserver. The attached patch fixes them.
