First it would help if you post your LAYER block or DATA statement.
In the MAP section put something like:
CONFIG MS_ERRORFILE "stderr"
DEBUG 10
And you might also try adding the DEBUG to the actual LAYER block. Under
apache, the error messages will go into the apache error.log
