Thank you Seth and Jeff for your answers. Unfortunately my email 
jbo-ads at laposte.net has issues and I discovered your answers on the 
[mapserver-dev] archive. I switched to a new email jbo-ads at mailo.com.

Jeff: I thought of the approach you suggest. I think this is the best 
way to handle my issue.

Seth: I already worked on the reverse operation: this is open PR #5832 
"SLD: Improve WMS GetStyles request" 
(https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/pull/5832). I hope that I 
covered all use cases.
