Hi all,

I'm new with mapserver and I'm still in installing and configuring phase.
Also I'm new with linux so my problems are even bigger.

I've obtained mapserv CGI and placed it on apache/cgi-bin/ directory.

I've tryed a demo for mapserver but I have problems with it. The page load
but the reference map doesn't appear. I have compiled with support for gif,
png, jpg, etc.

when I execute ./mapserv in the command line in the cgi-bin directory I
obtain this:

>./mapserv
Content-type: text/html

<HTML>
<HEAD><TITLE>MapServer Message</TITLE></HEAD>
<!-- MapServer version 3.5 OUTPUT=GIF OUTPUT=PNG OUTPUT=JPEG OUTPUT=WBMP
SUPPORTS=TTF INPUT=TIFF INPUT=EPPL7 INPUT=JPEG INPUT=SHAPEFILE -->
<BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF">
loadMap(): Web application error. CGI variable "map" is not set.
</BODY></HTML>

I followed the "MapServer Unix Compilation and Installation HOWTO" and there
is told that after ./mapserv I should obtain the following instead of wich I
obtain:

./mapserv
This script can only be used to decode form results and
should be initiated as a CGI process via a httpd server.

So, I don't know where's the problem. Any help will be welcome.

Thanks.

Carlos.
