[mapserver-users] TIFFs no longer displaying

I'm having a problem where TIFFs will no longer display in my 
PHP-MapScript application.  It's especially confusing because I can't 
identify what changed on my system (nothing, as far as I can tell). 
When I zoom in to the scale where DRGs are displayed, the app crashes 
with a 500 Internal Server Error.  This also happens if I put together a 
simple mapfile to display a single DRG, along with a simple PHP 
interface to just display the image.  The error_log prints a standard 
"Premature end of script headers" error.

However, shp2img *is* able to process these mapfiles (including the TIFF 
images) and render the output.  tiffinfo has no problem reading the 
files, and permissions are not the problem.  This makes me think the 
problem is with PHP or something else at that level, but I've recompiled 
and tested newer and older versions of PHP along with different versions 
of MS, GDAL, and GD, and can't shake this problem.  I've gone so far as 
to completely install a separate MapServer environment (MS 3.7 cvs, GDAL 
cvs, GD 2.0.7, PROJ 4.4.5, Apache 2.0.43, PHP 4.2.3, libwww 5.4.0) to a 
different directory tree, to no avail.  GDAL was compiled with internal 
libtiff and libgeotiff support.

I'm hoping someone might have another idea of how to troubleshoot, given 
that shp2img works.  I've spent a couple days troubleshooting this and 
can't seem to make a dent.
