Hi list
Not entirely sure if this is the place to ask this question. I'm a =
complete novice in most aspects related to Mapserver, but managed to get =
the CGI version going and now have a Mapscript version that searches a =
database and displays results as points on a map.

What I'd like to ask is why this functionality - to plot user searches =
on a map - doesn't seem to be common. Mapserver, I think, is quite =
suited to this, but so far it's been suggested that many GIS (ArcIMS for =
example) are very complicated to work with in this respect. Another =
suggestion was that there is no real demand for this, but I find that =
difficult to believe. Many people on the list seem to work in the GIS =
field so I thought someone may have an opinion.
Tony
