dear community,
as i'm new to the mapserver-topic, i've consequently followed
all necessary steps described in this howto.
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/data2/wilma/mapserver-users/0208/msg00285.html
for the dead-links i downloaded versions as close as possible
to the emntioned ones.
after a lot of struggle and serveral reinstallations of the
operatin-system, i managed to get as far as you can see
here:
http://kate.mhf.at/itasca/demo_init.html
most unfortunately i am unable to find the solution to the
problem of the mapserv-binary refusing to generate the
png-files. i tried to make the mapserv generate jpgs before,
but with identically poor result.
as far as i understand the compilation of all required
software-components worked out fine, although i haven't
included php and postgresql yet. but i don't think this
itasca-example doesn't require any of that.
the paths for the generated images are valid and for the
relevant user writable.
as there are no errormessages, i can't post any ...
suse 8.2 e
default installation
apache from suse-cds
all the rest compiled as described in the howto.
my questions:
*) can anyone highly experienced guess what part of the installation is
not doing the work it should do by using the url above?
*) has anyone got a step-by-step-howto that leads to a working
installation using freebsd?
... well an idiots-guide for any linux really.
most cordial thanks in advance and
best of regards,
--
