Hi Norman,
thanks for your hints. It helped. I was so focused on the gdal-config that I
didn't play around too much in the Makefile.

I think I tried that already some time ago but it didn't work. I now found
out that in the Makefile there are some other links to libjpeg which I had
to remove as well.
