Yes,

$mapObj->{extent}->{minx} = $minx; $mapObj->{extent}->{miny} = $miny;
$mapObj->{extent}->{maxx} = $maxx; $mapObj->{extent}->{maxy} = $maxy;

was one line AFTER reference map.
