coordinate systems transformations

I need to zoom to a given map location,  where the location position is
given in actual latitude and longitude coordinates.  I want to use the
zoompoint method, but it uses pixel coordinates as input

Does map server provides methods for transformation among the various
coordinate systems that are used in the application (i.e. degrees,
georeference extents, pixels, etc)?


Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
