problem compiling 5.0.1

Yeep. This solved also the first one.

The first machine has flex 2.5.33-21 installed (too old?!), the second
one 2.5.4a (rather old, I agree).
Is there any way it would work also with the 2.5.4a or alike?
Upgrading it requires turning the world upside down (production
machine, glibc, then gnome, then...)
