[mapserver-users] WMS/WFS set-up and query time

I believe WMS/WFS layers fetch/cache the necessary data from the remote server before rendering starts. Perhaps there’s a less than speedy remote server? --Steve

I've been looking at my error log for a WMS server I have up and running and noticed that the WMS/WFS set-up and query made up the majority of the request time.  What is the setup and query and is there any way to decrease this?
