[Marketing] Logo Design

To add some fun to this discussion:
I stumbled upon the evolution of the logo of our less-open-source
friends from Redlands, Caliofornia.
https://gisandscience.com/2010/12/30/esri-logo-an-evolution/

Now that was a real change in logo, from the "scientific squares" to the
-according to my opinion somewhat cartoonesc- globe!

Given the rather conservative reactions on the new OSGeo logo, I think
it might help to get a better story on what OSGeo.org wants to achieve
with the current rebranding campaign, and how the new logo fits into it.
Preferably in max 140 characters.

Kind regards,

Gert-Jan
