Hi all,

here's an update on the upcoming virtual FORCE2021 conference (Dec 6 -9 2021).

A poster submission on MOSS has been accepted:

Poster Title:
Back to the future: The OSGeo heritage project MOSS as a best practice for future geospatial community project incubation

Poster Abstract:
This is a work in progress report about how the legacy software project Map Overlay and Statistical System (MOSS) was successfully saved from digital extinction

The 5 minute virtual poster presentation is scheduled for Thursday Dec 9 12:00 hours UTC.

The poster should be completed by the end of next week. It will be uploaded to the Zenodo open access repository and will receive a DOI in the process.

I believe this is a great opportunity to confirm and test drive the DOI-based citation mechanisms enabled by Zenodo. Down at the bottom of the MOSS landing page(https://zenodo.org/record/5140319#.YZu0YWDMIuU)  you'll notice a counter for citations, which so far reports _zero_ citations. This citation count is not set manually but is based on automated data harvesting (in DOI-based repositories such as Zenodo). Once the MOSS project DOI is included in the FORCE 2021 poster and the poster is uploaded to Zeneodo, the citation counter for the MOSS project should "jump" to one (ka-ching!).


What is FORCE2021 about:
The FORCE11 annual conference brings together a wide variety of stakeholders in the scholarly communication ecosystem for open discussions, on an even playing field, about collaboration and cross-training that will move the needle on how scholarly and scientific information is communicated, shared and used. Researchers, publishers, librarians, computer scientists, informaticians, funders, educators, students, citizens, and others attend the FORCE11 meeting with a view to supporting the realisation of promising new ideas and identifying new potential collaborators.
