Anti,

I haven't heard anything from WA. Unless anyone else has any communications
on this, I think that we can safely assume that this option has gone
nowhere.

I have been working behind the scenes since August last year to try and find
suitable insurance for OSGeo-AustNZ, which has surprisingly been less than
straight forward.

I have found a government sponsored group that specialise in sponsoring
non-profit community groups for directors insurance etc (we still need to
pay some costs though).

It looks like we may get cover, but it will need to be via an Australian
entity.

I'm currently waiting for confirmation, however this process has been
delayed by leave etc. It appears that we have passed through several hurdles
in the process already though.

I hope to get the final word soon, however this timing is out of my hands.

Wrt the structure, if we can be covered by the insurance, I can set up a
Victorian Incorporated

Association (similar to the WA model that we were looking at) fairly

quickly (~1 month for the legalities).

If we don't get the insurance cover, I suggest that we adopt Brent's
proposal.

Bruce
