[OpenLayers-Dev] Image layer as data source, how to tile this image?

This image size is a little large. i can not pan it in openlayers smoothly.
i think it should be cut into several tiles, each tile size is 256 * 256.
then merge these tiles to an entire map.
but how to do it in openlayers, and how to load these tiles ?
