[OpenLayers-Users] Multi Selectable Vector layers

Great, thanks Chris. I didn't realize the default chm was for 2.8 and
not 2.7. I was getting very confused as to why my array was not being
passed in. 

All sorted now.

It's used internally to the SelectFeature Control with multiple layers.
You shouldn't need to use it yourself for any reason.
