I don't know to which extent the client side of MapFish is now GeoExt.  
I suspect there are still MapFish only widgets.  MF folks : correct me 
if I'm wrong.

A lot of MF widgets (e.g. the layertree) are now obsolete in favor of 
their GeoExt replacement widgets.  I just don't know to which extent all 
the MF widgets have been replaced with/ported to GeoExt.  But the plan 
is to eliminate most of the client side of MF in favor of GeoExt.
