 Just to confirm, you did manually edit configure.ac to apply the patch in
 the above github link, correct? (...prior to the autogen.sh and configure)

 If so, I'm not sure I understand why the extra directory was not picked
 up. We may need to grab someone with more experience with autoconf, as I
 am limited to copying and pasting promising looking snippets. :)
