I can understand not wanting to do dialect translations, but is taking on a net-new language like french not a reasonable thing, if people are in fact going to do so?

Hello everyone,

Some people asked for specific versions of languages that PostGIS need to be translated to, for example French (fr_FR) and Spanish (es_MX).

I've denied both requests, since that we already have french and spanish languages added to the languages list. I understand that spanish spoken in Mexico is different from the spanish spoken in Spain, and if that is a huge problem we can create that language again.

Should those requests be denied, since we are adding a lot more work, without the necessary work force? I mean, those who speak french or spanish, should help with the general translation, before we add another, let's say, dialect? That because a lot of the work done on the spanish (Spain) will be used for the spanish (Mexico)?

I was thinking to make an announcement on transifex regarding those rules.

What do you guys think about that?
