If no  match comes out from:

grep '#if.*PGSQL' postgis/postgis.sql.in

Then the problem is only with the binary (so, not a problem).

Otherwise, upgrade beween PostgreSQL versions would still need
an extension upgrade (even if to the same PostGIS version).
