 I will try to do this in Mars or April so it should be no problem.

 A small summary about what shall be done:

 Questions to answer:
 *  Naming
 *  How shall this function relate to ST_Simplify? see discussion above

 *  What area-value to give the endings of a linestring

 *  How to handle polygon collapsing


 Other tasks to do

 *  CUnit tests

 *  Regression tests
