 it turns out my Ubuntu 14.04 PostgreSQL 9.6, PostGIS 2.3.3 I got from I
 think apt.postgresql.org is also running GEOS 3.4.2, so I think this
 should be tabled till 2.5 to give packagers more chance to upgrade.
