Debugging...ugh, but somebody's got to do it. I left the hanging process running for a while on my box. After about 10 or so minutes this shows up in my error_log file:

[Wed Aug 13 10:27:56 2003] [error] [client 10.0.50.205] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: ap_content_length_filter: apr_bucket_read() failed
[Wed Aug 13 10:33:12 2003] [error] [client 10.0.50.205] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: ap_content_length_filter: apr_bucket_read() failed

What is more interesting is what shows up in the postgres logfile:

LOG:  pq_recvbuf: unexpected EOF on client connection
LOG:  pq_recvbuf: unexpected EOF on client connection

What's that all about? Hope this helps you boys out. The line in postgres log shows up just after the line in error_log.

It prints these two lines and then dies (meaning the connection is closed). The internet explorer icon stops spinning. And the mapserv instance is killed on the machine.
