[postgis-users] GEOS problems

good day everyone! i am very very sorry if this is
off-topic for this list. i just don't know where to
ask for help regarding my problem with installing GEOS
for PostGIS. it's quite a dire need already. otherwise
just disregard this message.   

anyway, i tried to run ./configure for both the geos
1.0.0 and the current CVS snapshot sources, but it
always ends with this line:

config.status: error: cannot find input file:
source/examples/Makefile.in

what could i be possibly doing wrong?
