Hi,

I think I figured this out:

- the psql command to run postgis.sql was choking on not being able to
find the geos libs.

Reading over the GEOS INSTALL again, I neglected to:

"Linux: Make sure that /usr/local/lib is added to /etc/ld.so.conf
       Make sure that you run /sbin/ldconfig afterwards"

...so I did this, and this seemed to work.
