[postgis-users] performance boost

Hi,

At the FOSS4G2007 i heard about a performance boost for PostGIS that was
being implemented in JUMP at that moment.
It was all about "prepared geometries" and would improve PostGIS permance
with up to a factor 100.

Does anyone know how this project is coming along, and when to expect the
update?
I' not saying that i'm impatient (although..), just very, very curious.
