[Proj] Should we delete the legacy JNI wrapper (replaced by new ones)?

Since we are at it, the 4.8 release contains new JNI wrappers which 
replace the old ones. The main difference is that the new wrappers fix 
some memory leaks, and are expected to be more efficient by allowing to 
fetch the PJ structure only once instead than for every call to a 
'transform' method. The old wrappers are still present on the trunk as 
"deprecated" code however. Should we remove them from trunk now? (they 
would still be in the 4.8 branch)

Also, should we merge the JNI fixes to the 4.8 branch?
