[Qgis-developer] upgrading from 0.8.1 to 0.9

Hi,
we run QGIS 0.8.1 on a KNOPPIX (debian-based) liveCD.
0.8.1 still has a bug in georeferencing that is fixed in 0.9. Asking for 
someone to create a patch for 0.8.1 resulted in silence so far.
The other feasible option would be to upgrade to 0.9. To what extent did 
library dependencies change from 0.8.1 to 0.9?
