No offence. I think:
* exact numbers are not important
* distribution and trends are
* knowing better our user base will let us understand how we are doing, identify
potential opportunities, weakness and strengths - in short, to market QGIS; I know
that's a Bad Word among devs, and perhaps more generally in the Open Source
environment, but if taken sanely, it can help us expanding even more, e.g. locating
important local communities that can be involved in the project with specific actions
(yes, I'm thinking to my recent visits to Korea and Japan), and much more.
Having data helps understanding, and this is always good IMHO.
