It definitely works. Only disadavantage is that some tiles do not show 
up, if the server does not respond in time. It just needs to move the 
map a bit around, to see the missing tiles.

Thats true, but reprojecting tiles individually looks rather bad. You 
have to load all tiles, mosaic them together, and then reproject the 
result. But this may take too long.
