[Qgis-developer] Future of OpenLayers plugin - time to deprecate?

So I started playing with this even more and didn't realize some image
services were hidden (thanks Bernd)....and I just made a map with a
Google Satellite background and it's not shifted.
My only other contribution to the discussion would be to clear up why
those services are hidden as you wouldn't want to replace one well known
plugin with something that could cause people headaches. I'm completely
lost on that side of life. I've never completely understood how
openLayers could access Google imagery since everything seems to require
some developer 'magic'. I always limited my use of it because I didn't
understand legally why it worked.
I think Basemaps would be a good alternate name for this - since that's
the entire plugin's 'reason for being' - providing basemaps.
