Can you test https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/2095 and let me know if
that's better?

This pull request flips the browser dock over to a toolbar, so I'm
after feedback from anyone as to whether this change is an
improvement, and if so, I'll make it happen across all dock widgets.
