Here's my status report:

- datum transform work: merged!
- layouts: PR open restoring raster and PDF exports. TODO: svg export,
atlas, translation of 2.x compositions -> layouts (I've brought
Alessandro onboard to handle this component)
- metadata storage: PR still needs review comments addressed (as far
as i'm aware)
