Hi,
Nyall, If I may :"No! you are not overreacting". I felt the same way few
hours ago after I read https://issues.qgis.org/issues/17712 (an many others
before) and and was preparing the same kind of reply when I saw your mail.
Imho bug reporting can be done in a much better way, in a friendly way.
