I agree that this is a valid use case. I can also see user PyQGIS
scripts wanting to show the dialog, especially pre-populated with some
non default values. (Not to mention that we should be able to
double-click an entry in the processing history and see this
prepopulated dialog, instead of immediately running the alg with the
previous values).

I'll see what I can do.
