[Qgis-developer] Relative and absolute paths in projects

Hi all,
in QGIS 2.18 apparently the full path of the layer is saved in the
project, regardless whether Relative or Absolute is chosen from Project
Properties. I checked in the .qgs (ame path) and by manually moving the
projects to another dir (the original layer is found without asking,
which was not expected for relative).
Is this a bug, or ma I missing something?
