would you agree if I change slightly the phrase "The + button will add
a new feature to the airport layer. And it will assign the new airport
to the current region by default."?

because as this functionality is implemented now, using a child layer
with geometries, this effectively means creating a new record in the
table without a geometry (which I guess in not what users expect, as
also I feel is not very well supported in QGIS).
