[QGIS-Developer] Issues with Postgis transactions and save points

Hi, 

Since a few days I have a lot of troubles with Postgis transactions. 

In the Postgis log section I get messages like:

2018-01-31T11:15:28 WARNING Erroneous query: SAVEPOINT
"{241d5071-f646-4fde-9c5d-7fc8de8f72b8}" returned 7 [ERROR: SAVEPOINT
can only be used in transaction blocks] 

2018-01-31T11:15:28 WARNING Erroneous query: SAVEPOINT
"{f29b5a18-0d47-4ebc-a29e-1c43e60b0ab8}" returned 7 [ERROR: SAVEPOINT
can only be used in transaction blocks]

As a consequence data is not saved correctly. 

The same project worked fine 2-3 weeks ago. Any idea what might have
changed in the last couple days regarding Postgis transactions that
Postgis with transactions is now failing? 

Thanks if you have any ideas how to find out what is wrong here,
