Is there documentation on this or guidance on how to make it work?

On mingw, cygwin and ubuntu this gives the message
qgisstyle / astyle not found - please install astyle >=3 or enable 
WITH_ASTYLE in cmake and build

The latest version of astyle on cygwin and ubuntu is 2.05.

I modified astyle.sh on my ubuntu system to allow a minimum version of 2 
which allows it to do something but it gives the messages
flip not found
autopep8 not found

The astyle diff output includes the source code that was copied directly 
from the mssql provider.

Numerous new files are created with long names.
