On the contrary, I believe a behavior that does not use map rendering to
answer the questions contradicts the standard,
since GetFeaureInfo should return what a user clicked on a particular pixel
in the rendered map

GeoServer does the rendered version by default, but it's possible to turn
that off and go back the on the bbox based engine
