[QGIS-Developer] UI ideas to fix opening of certain OSM files

I would just like to draw your attention to issue 30162
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/issues/31062.

I would appreciate any comments on what people with more experience than I
do think about my two different ideas to fix this bug. It has clearly been
an issue in the past as there are issues referencing the same error message
which were closed through being stale rather than a commit to fix.

Another option is to make people set an environment variable to load the
files properly, but this seems a very sub-optimal solution.

Let me know if anything is unclear.
