[QGIS-Developer] Use PyQGIS to change a group of selected vertices (vertex tool)

I'm also interested in the answer to this question. I was under the
impression that the vertex tool (and thus  what you select in it) is not
accessible from Python.

This is very unfortunate, as I would also like to do something with the
selection of some of those vertices.
