I agree: giving due credits to authors (both of features and of
documentation) could be a good incentive. The main complication here is
to give credits in case of multiauthors (e.g. an entire documentation
chapter can have the name of the author, more difficult is to give
attribution to the precious work of reviewers, updaters etc.).
