Hi Paul N,
it looks like that issue happens from time to time. Anyway I suppose 
such issue may have been already fixed. See 
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/56317/commits/aa7317e4239e88252c3327bcccd27646062087aa

Which commit are have you build on?
