[QGIS-Developer] GDAL processing algorithms issues due the default output layer extensions weirdly changed

I am 99% that I have not uninstalled any plugins in two profiles where
this occured and in one of them there is only the GeoCat Bridge plugin
and in the other the QuickWKT plugin, in addition to the core plugins.
So I would consider it unlikely to be caused by plugins.
