Hi John,

Unfortunately, I don't think your project quite fit the requirements of 
the QGIS project as GSoC projects are intended to improve the core of 
QGIS instead of adding new plugins. Moreover, I would say the question 
to ask yourself when adding a new feature to the core of QGIS is: "Is 
this feature going to be helpful for at least three different fields  ?"

Since it looks like you are interested in graph theory, an example of 
GSOC would be  "Improve network analysis algorithms in QGIS"

However your master thesis does look interesting (I also did my master 
thesis on accessibility and walkability so I am looking forward to try 
it out if you do a plugin)

build/improve upon pre-existing work
