I'm aware that ftools has issues, but I can't find any mention of
reshape/split issues until Tim's email. That's what I'm looking for more
info on.

I'd also love to get hold of any weird geometries you have - there's a new
geometry test dataset used in the unit tests which I'm trying to build up
with as many oddities and corner cases as possible (eventually I want to
split this dataset out and share it with other os geo projects).
