[Qgis-psc] Can we model fund raising efforts from Blender?

While organizing the hackfest in 's-Hertogenbosch I was looking for
sponsors. My goal was getting the entire hf costs covered by (Dutch)
sponsors. It worked out pretty well. I think while talking with the
companies, at first most don't feel like spending money on Qgis. It's
the main reason for using it (I guess). But usually after some minutes
they started understanding that supporting the development makes sense.

Also, having the hf in The Netherlands made it feel closer to them,
compared to the download button on some international website.

I'd be happy to help finding those larger and long term sponsors. They
are not in my network (yet) but if I bump into them I will see what's
possible. I would say you need to meet the people using QGIS anyway.

There's a super nice interview with Blender founder Ton Roosendaal on
youtube. Quite a long watch but I really enjoyed all of it. The story
has many parallels to QGIS:

Kind regards,
Raymond
