Yes, as soon as GUI freeze is lifted, we should add such an option. In the mean time,
those of us who 'know' can experiment and test the functionality. For instance, what properties should
be read? Should layers be read from the default_project?

I hate having to install zillions of plugin for each added functionality. This should be in core QGIS.
